USI, 365 Partner for Delivery Lockers

Two industry leaders are teaming to build vending delivery lockers to provide what they say are streamlined, secure, tamper-proof, contactless food delivery and pick-up stations for the next generation of onsite delivery.

Constructed by U-Select-It (USI) and powered by 365 Retail Markets, the lockers are designed to meet needs of operators who are encountering changing needs of vending location owners and consumers who purchase at those sites.  The lockers are available with optional UVend ultraviolet light sanitation technology,  which USI says kills or inactivates up to 99.9% of viruses.  

“By providing fresh food and meal options at the workplace, operators can broaden and enhance the service for their clients, while helping them achieve a more satisfied, productive workforce,” said Andrew Martinez Negrete, USI director of engineering.  “With delivery lockers, customers can order freshly made meals with contactless delivery to ensure a safe experience,” he added. 

According to USI, operators who use the lockers can utilize their own commissaries, outside kitchens or third-party food services. Consumers using the lockers download the Connect & Pay app, create and fund an account, and link to their existing Order Ahead app to order a meal as usual.  After the order is placed, the consumer receives a locker receipt QR and 6-digit code for retrieval from the designated locker cubby.  

365’s part of the partnership is to give operators the flexibility so the delivery lockers can be easily set up and integrated to the vending location.  Lockers are compatible with Connect & Pay app or connectandpay.com. eliminating the need for a consumer to wait in line.  The lockers also create pick-up efficiencies to reduce order mix-up and confusion.
