The answer to this question is yes, 2023 is poised to be another big year for unattended retail and there are several big trends that you must be prepared for including the following:

#1 Inflation Will Have an Impact on Product Prices

One of the first trends that we can expect to see in 2023 is that some product prices will be higher than they were last year due, to inflation, which has increased by least 8% in the last year alone.

As with all other businesses, inflation does have an impact on unattended retail operations and most operators will be rising their prices to offset their rising costs.

#2 Operators Will Offer Product Alternatives

Another trend that we can expect to see in 2023 is most operators will be offering product alternatives instead of just offering tried and true products that they’ve always offered in the past.

With staying healthy a goal of most consumers after the pandemic, it makes sense for operators to not just focus on offering drinks and snacks, they can increase their profits by offering fruits, salads and other freshly made meals as well.

#3 Businesses Will Be Focusing More on Branding

As more unattended retail businesses hit the market in 2023, we can also expect to see both new and established businesses focusing on branding or establishing what makes their business different from the competition.

This is good for the unattended retail industry because it means that operators will be focusing on improving their product quality, product delivery, and establishing their brands online so that more people can find them.

#4 New Technology Will Be Used

Last of all, but most important, as competition rises in the unattended retail space, we also expect to see more operators using the latest technology to offer a diverse product offering to their customers.

This is also good news for the unattended retail industry because when an unattended retail business utilizes new technology like smart coolers, that encourages other businesses nearby to scale up their use of new technology as well so that they can attract customers to their places of business.
