The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) today honored Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) with its 2026 Industry Champion award for her staunch leadership on behalf of the convenience services industry and the 40 million Americans it serves every day.

The award was presented by NAMA President and CEO Christine Cochran during a ceremony at the Rayburn House Office Building and attended by NAMA senior leadership and industry executives from across the country.

“The convenience services industry shows up every single day in the places and during the hours where brick-and-mortar retail isn’t always available. For frontline workers, third shift employees and for underserved communities, that kind of access isn’t incidental, it’s essential. Congresswoman Waters understands that, and she has shown it through her engagement with the small businesses and workers who make this industry run and the communities they serve. We are proud to recognize her for it,” said Christine Cochran, President and CEO of NAMA in today’s press release.

The U.S. convenience services industry keeps daily essentials within reach through unattended retail such as a micro market and vending machine or workplace amenity programs such as office coffee and pantry services. The industry contributes $41 billion to the U.S. economy and supports more than 171,000 jobs. Learn more about the impact of convenience services at namanow.org/impact.
