Interview with Adam Ciboch, Co-Founder of DentiMints

As consumers continue to seek convenient wellness products that fit into increasingly mobile lifestyles, oral care remains an area ripe for innovation. During a recent interview, DentiMints co-founder Adam Ciboch discussed how the company is approaching oral hygiene differently with a brushless, waterless tablet designed for use anytime and anywhere. According to Ciboch, the idea behind DentiMints originated from a simple observation: most people do not carry a toothbrush and toothpaste throughout the day, even though they may want to freshen their mouths after meals, coffee, or other beverages.

“We felt there was a need for on-the-go oral care,” Ciboch explained. “Most people in the workplace environment or who are traveling don’t really carry a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush around with them on a regular basis.”

The result is DentiMints, a mint-format oral care tablet that users chew and swish around their mouths for approximately 30 seconds. Unlike traditional breath mints, Ciboch emphasizes that the product was developed to provide oral care benefits in addition to freshening breath.

The formulation includes xylitol, monk fruit, and a patented refined cranberry extract. According to Ciboch, the cranberry extract retains the antioxidant and antibacterial benefits associated with cranberries while helping support oral health. The product is also designed to help balance pH levels in the mouth, which can be affected by coffee, soft drinks, and other acidic foods and beverages.

“The goal of the product is to reduce harmful bacteria while supporting the beneficial bacteria in your mouth and raising pH levels,” Ciboch said.

The concept has been years in the making. Ciboch noted that the original tablet formulation was developed roughly 15 years ago alongside a chemist who operates a pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing facility.

One of the more unusual aspects of the company’s journey is Ciboch’s own personal experiment. In the interview, he shared that he has used only DentiMints for his daily oral care routine since April of the previous year, replacing traditional brushing with the tablets three times per day.

While the product itself is innovative, the entrepreneurial story behind DentiMints is equally noteworthy. Ciboch’s business partner, Matt, has a long history in the oral care category, including developing a teeth-whitening pen that ultimately expanded into more than 10,000 dental offices before reaching national retail distribution through major chains.

Together, the founders also previously worked in dental technology, developing AI-powered dental scanning solutions capable of identifying issues such as gum recession, plaque buildup, cavities, and oral lesions.

“It’s funny that neither Matt nor myself had really planned on being full-time in oral care,” Ciboch said. “That’s kind of where we’ve ended up.”

The response from consumers has been encouraging. Ciboch said many first-time users are initially skeptical that a mint tablet can provide meaningful oral care benefits, but often change their minds after trying the product.

“The biggest reaction we get is, ‘Wow, that really worked,'” he said. “People don’t necessarily expect oral care in a mint tablet.”

For operators in the unattended retail industry, products that combine convenience, wellness, and portability continue to attract attention. DentiMints is currently available through several Vistar operating companies across the United States, with plans for expanded distribution.

As workplace amenities, micro markets, and vending locations continue to evolve beyond traditional snacks and beverages, products like DentiMints illustrate how consumer demand for health-focused convenience is creating opportunities for entirely new categories within unattended retail.
