SandenVendo America Makes Vending Line Available With Hydrocarbon Refrigeration

SandenVendoSandenVendo America Inc. has announced that its North American vending machines are now available with hydrocarbon refrigeration systems.

“At SandenVendo America, we take our commitment to the environment very seriously,” the company recently announced on its Facebook page. “That’s why we’re so happy to offer our full range of vending machines charged with R290 HC.”

All models are cUL listed and meet or exceed U.S. Department of Energy and Energy Star requirements. The company noted R290 is a safe and abundant natural refrigerant with a zero ozone depleting potential and a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 4.

“Compared to HFC R134a’s GWP of 1,430, it’s clear that R290 is the sustainable choice of the future,” the company noted.

Hydrocarbons21, a refrigeration industry news site, reported that the hydrocarbon refrigeration systems serve two types of SandenVendo America products: glass-front and stack-style vending machines.

Mike Weisser, SandenVendo America CEO and president, told Hydrocarbons21 the company wanted to move to hydrocarbons because customer trends are moving away from high-GWP-HFC refrigerants.
