FIVE STAR FOOD SERVICE SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY KITCHEN EXCEEDS $75,000

Chattanooga, TN – The work of feeding hungry people continues to draw two local groups together for the benefit of those in need. Since 2011, Five Star Food Service has contributed over $75,000.00 to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen in their work to feed hungry and homeless individuals in our community. While Five Star provides workplace food and vending needs throughout the Southeast, they also share a common goal with the Community Kitchen to address local hunger needs.

Jens Christensen, CEO of Chattanooga Community Kitchen adds, “We are truly grateful for the support of Five Star. They continue to be a great community partner and help fulfill a vital role.”

While the daily feeding program has remained constant at the Community Kitchen since it opened in 1982, providing around 180,000 meals each year, its mission continues to expand beyond offering basic needs to promote self-sufficiency through employment and housing programs. Recently, President and CEO of Five Star, Alan Recher and his team stopped by the Kitchen to present this year’s contribution and see first-hand the work the Community Kitchen is doing among families experiencing homelessness. Together, both Five Star Food Service and Chattanooga Community Kitchen are meeting a fundamental need and improving the future of our community.
